RA's reflecting on training

RA Training

We help RAs build community with simple, playful tools they can actually use with residents. The result is more ease, more interaction, and a stronger sense of belonging in the hall.

Through hands-on exercises, RAs practice how to lower pressure, invite participation, adapt when engagement is low, and help residents feel comfortable joining in. They leave with practical activities they can use right away and leadership skills they’ll carry well beyond the RA role.

‍Have a large RA team? We also offer a train-the-trainer option for professional staff who want to integrate these tools throughout RA training week and across the academic year.

‍What campuses notice:

  • Less “forced fun” energy - more natural conversation and laughter

  • Tools RAs can use - in meetings, events, downtime, and everyday interactions

  • Inclusive by design - quieter leaders and hesitant students have an easier way i

  • Stronger RA teams - shared energy, vulnerability, and deeper connection

"A lot of the things in the job can be really heavy and they're dealing with a lot of stress. We wanted them to understand that they can integrate fun and play. That they are able to do so in a way where they can truly connect and engage with students. This session definitely delivered on that. And it kept RAs attention. This is definitely going to be their favorite part of training and they're going to be asking to have you back."
Maileny Guillen, Assistant Director of Residential Life, University of New England

Team Building

Bring people together with playful, low-pressure activities that make it easier to loosen up, laugh, and build trust. These experiences are designed for housing groups that need to connect quickly and feel more comfortable working, living, or learning together.

Participants practice communication, curiosity, vulnerability, and adaptability through shared challenges designed to get everyone involved. The result is a group that feels more comfortable with one another and better prepared to work, live, and learn together.

A good fit for:

  • Professional staff teams

  • RA and student staff team building

  • Living-learning communities

  • First-year and community retreats

“Our incoming students really enjoyed learning about teamwork and building connections. I was nervous about how they would bond with one another, but the workshops were so fun. That made it easy for students to step out of their comfort zone!”
Kayshell Adderley, Assistant Director of Residential Life, Virginia Commonwealth University
“We had a pop-up play break on our campus as a semester end de-stress event and our students loved it. Fun and engaging and the students loved participating.”
Kathy Matson, Director of Student Life, Mount Wachusett Community College

“I love the connection that comes along with playing Flop Ball. I've never felt so connected to my fellow RAs than when we played into the late hours of the night, talking and laughing. I wake up thinking about it!”
Andi S., RA, Hanover College
“During tabling and workshops, the uniqueness of the skill toys keeps students engaged and offers a quick break from their busy schedules. We are able to reinforce the importance of taking time for self care while decreasing stress and anxiety.”
